If your path to creating art has been long and winding, as mine has, you have art supplies on hand that you may not have opened yet. No shame in that. Now’s the time to try something new. If you’re stuck in a rut, or just stuck, break out something new and try something different. Changing your perspective will change what emerges from you creatively. I’ve always loved calligraphy, but haven’t “gotten around to it” because I’m painting, sketching, working…you know what I mean. A few weeks ago I got a call from a work client who wanted to commission a small piece as a wedding gift for friends. She wanted something that said “Shalom, Salaam, Peace.” I said sure…that’s the thing to do – when you don’t know if you can or you can’t, stretch yourself creatively and see what you are capable of. I asked a few questions – what did they like? The beach. Favorite colors? Blues and greens. Got my inspiration from those answers. Here’s the piece. Can’t wait to say “yes” to the next new thing!
